Ohio Transmission Corporation Names David Scheer as New CEO; Phil Derrow to become Chairman

COLUMBUS, OH – June 22, 2020 – After 38 years of service, Ohio Transmission Corporation’s (OTC) long-time Chief Executive Officer, Phil Derrow, will be transitioning to a new role as Chairman for the company. OTC’s board of directors has named David Scheer as the new Chief Executive Officer. Scheer will also be joining the board of directors.

OTC was co-founded in 1963 by Phil Derrow’s father, David Derrow, and L. Philip Carstens. Since its founding, OTC has grown from just six employees in a single location in Columbus to more than 1,200 employees in 47 locations across the United States. Phil Derrow became CEO in 1998 and led a period of growth that saw the company’s revenue increase by more than 10 times and the firm’s employees increase by five times. In 2013, Derrow led the company through a transition to private equity ownership, culminating in a sale to Genstar Capital in April 2019. Derrow’s move to the Chairman role was planned as part of the Genstar acquisition.

Prior to joining OTP, Scheer was the Chief Executive Officer of Power Products, LLC and its related entity, ECM Industries. Power Products is a diversified electrical products platform with locations in North America, Europe and Asia. Previously, Scheer was Executive Vice President/Electrical Segment of Actuant Corporation (NYSE: ATU) and led the 2013 spin-off of the segment, which was renamed Power Products. He also has served as Chief Operating Officer for Pearlman Group, the nation’s leading distributor of tools, supplies, and machinery for the hard surfaces industry. Earlier in his career, Scheer was Chief Operating Officer of Sigma Electric Manufacturing Corp., Division President/Southeast for Rexel USA, and he had several commercial and operating roles with Thomas & Betts Corporation.

Ohio Transmission Corp. Acquires Second Arizona Company

Acquisition of service provider of mechanical and electric motor repair furthers OTC’s expansion into the Southwest

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jan. 21, 2020 — Ohio Transmission Corporation, an industrial equipment service provider and distributor headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, today announced the acquisition of Laron Inc., a leading service provider of mechanical and electric motor repair and engineering in the southwestern United States.

Laron’s headquarters in Kingman, Arizona, houses more than 140,000 square feet of shop space, with large-scale machining, fabrication and repair capabilities. Laron also has repair facilities in Phoenix, Arizona, and Salt Lake City, Utah, and it has a sales and field service office in Tucson, Arizona.

Ohio Transmission Corp. Acquires Keller Electrical

Acquisition of provider of industrial electrical services and equipment expands OTC’s footprint into the Southwest

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Dec. 16, 2019 — Ohio Transmission Corporation, an industrial equipment service provider and distributor headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, today announced the acquisition of Keller Electrical, a dominant provider of industrial electrical services, equipment, components and supplies serving the southwestern United States.

Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Keller Electrical maintains a sales and field service office in Tucson, Arizona, and has field service capabilities spanning the Southwest and Mexico.

Acquisition of Furey Filter & Pump and PSI Engineering enhances pump, filtration, service and fabrication business

COLUMBUS, Ohio — June 18, 2019 — Ohio Transmission Corporation, an industrial equipment service provider and distributor headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, today announced the acquisition of Furey Filter & Pump and its subsidiary, PSI Engineering, two companies that together have 65 employees in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Founded in 1956, Furey Filter & Pump, based in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin suburb of Germantown, has established itself as a premier resource for pumps, filtration, service and full-system engineering and fabrication, including certified welding capabilities. PSI Engineering, which was founded as Pumps & Supplies Inc., in 1974, was renamed after Furey Filter & Pump acquired the company in 2004.
