COLUMBUS, Ohio — June 6, 2018 — Ohio Transmission Corporation, an industrial equipment service provider and distributor headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, announces the acquisition of Crimson Electric, Inc., a company located in South Carolina.

Founded in 1954, Crimson Electric is one of the leading electrical apparatus service centers in the Carolinas. The company specializes in the repair and testing of AC/DC motors, servo motors, pumps and gear reducers. Headquartered in Duncan, S.C., between Greenville and Spartanburg, the company’s facility includes state-of-the-art equipment for the comprehensive repair, engineering and testing of equipment.

“The southeastern United States is a rapidly growing industrial market, and Crimson Electric’s service focus provides a great opportunity to expand OTC’s geographic and product areas to better serve all of our customers,” said Phil Derrow, president and CEO of Ohio Transmission Corporation. “We have wanted to include electric motor repair in our product portfolio for many years and are excited to be able to do so with such a great company that has a long history of providing top-notch service to help their customers achieve success.”

Crimson Electric will continue to operate under the same name and with current local management. The company will become a division of OTP Industrial Solutions, which provides technical sales and service for industrial automation, motion control, fluid power, pumps, spray finishing, sealant and adhesive application, and power transmission systems and products. Crimson Electric owner, Charles Wilson, and his wife, Debbie, will continue to stay with the company through the transition of ownership.

With this acquisition, Ohio Transmission Corporation now has 33 locations throughout the South, Southeast, Midwest and Northeast regions, along with 14 service shops. The addition of Crimson Electric’s associates will expand Ohio Transmission Corporation’s existing workforce of more than 900 employees.

“The addition of Crimson Electric provides a great advantage to the OTP family as we expand our capabilities in electro-mechanical apparatus repair and service,” said Rob Webb, president of OTP Industrial Products. “Crimson Electric’s associates are highly trained and accustomed to working in a focused, customer-driven climate. Our customers continue to look to us for full-service solutions, and Crimson Electric can take care of everything from electrical apparatus repair to machine work, and they have an extensive product inventory of motors, parts, gear reducers and controls.”

As a division of OTP Industrial Solutions, Crimson Electric will have access to OTC’s vast product and service offerings and support resources. The acquisition provides significant growth opportunities for the associates of all of the companies and will provide customers with a more comprehensive set of technical solutions.

“As part of the OTP family, Crimson Electric will offer more resources, products and services to our customers,” said Charles Wilson. “Our team, which is staying on, brings a wealth of knowledge to the motor repair industry by reducing interruption of operations for our customers, reducing downtime and providing value-added services and products.”

Tsubaki SMART TOOTH™ Sprockets Use Patented Wear Indicator Technology

U.S. Tsubaki Smart Tooth

U.S. Tsubaki Power Transmission, LLC’s new Tsubaki SMART TOOTH™ sprockets use its patented Wear Indicator Technology, allowing OTP customers to identify and schedule drive system maintenance before critical component failure occurs.

When non-scheduled downtime costs are not acceptable, implementation of SMART TOOTH™ technology is the only answer. When maintenance personnel strategically places one of Tsubaki’s patented Wear Indicator pins on one or more sprocket teeth, it is easier than ever to visually identify if a sprocket is still within allowable wear tolerance or if it needs to be replaced.

Understanding when to replace a SMART TOOTH™ sprocket is simple. Friction from chain pressure wears down the material of a sprocket tooth, and when the Wear Indicator pin becomes visible, it is time to replace the sprocket.

Tsubaki SMART TOOTH™ sprockets stand apart from all other sprockets in the industry. Wear Indicator pins come standard on three sprocket teeth, ensuring they are visible on any application—no matter which part of the sprocket is covered. Tsubaki has also included the latest laser etching technology in which Tsubaki “SMART TOOTH™” will be etched directly below each indicator pin, providing even more visibility for the end user. All Tsubaki SMART TOOTH™ sprockets are shipped with a special blue coating, making it easy to identify which sprockets have wear indicators so that when you see the blue, you know Tsubaki is working hard for you.

U.S. Tsubaki offers SMART TOOTH™ on a wide variety of engineering class and roller chain sprockets for a variety of applications including mining, cement, asphalt, oil and gas and many more. Please contact OTP Industrial Solutions to see if your sprockets qualify for this high-value option.
