Andon is a Japanese term for a visual production control device, usually a lighted overhead display that continuously shows the changing status of production lines and provides alerts if a problem is imminent.
 
The common Andon Boards that are found in many facilities are a simple display board of Dot Matrix, LED's or Segment Display numbers that indicate the quantity status of a production line. Not much information or details are found on these units.
